Abstract:

Sources & Principles help to understand a language. The Holy Qur’an final & revealed message of Allah Almighty is in Arabic. Accordingly an exegetist of this Holy Book must be possessed full command on principles & sources i.e. Sunnah, sayings of Sahabah & Taba’een, Arabic Language etc. Prophet (PBUH) explained verses of Qur’an by Qur’an, it is the first & foremost way for commentary. This article observes a division in Qur'anic exegesis: the interpretation of the Qur'an by the Qur'an itself (Tafsir al-Qur'an bil Qur'an) and Tafsir bil Ra'i.The former is a broad term encompassing several aspects, such as the context of verses, the study of linguistic parallels and contrasts, the harmonization of verses, and thematic exegesis. Similarly, Tafsir bil Ra'i includes various key elements: clarification of Qur'anic vocabulary through the Arabic language, poetic evidence, historical accounts, Isra'iliyyat and intellectual, logical, and philosophical discussions. The article examines two twentieth century works of exegesis—`Allama Shinqiti's Adwa' al-Bayan and Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i's al-Mizan—through the lens of these two approaches. Special attention is given to the methodology of the first type, Tafsir al-Qur'an bil Qur'an, because these esteemed exegetes specifically made this approach the foundation of their interpretative works.

Abstract:

This study explores Fatawa Razawiyyah, the monumental legal compendium of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi, and its influence on later Islamic jurisprudential thought. The research highlights how Fatawa Razawiyyah addressed theological, social, and legal issues of its time while remaining deeply rooted in Hanafi fiqh and classical Islamic scholarship. By comparing it with later fatwas (muta’akhkhir fatawa), the paper examines the evolution of legal reasoning, contextual adaptation, and the continuity of traditional jurisprudence in the modern era. The study also underscores the relevance of Ahmad Raza Khan’s methodological rigor and his emphasis on aligning legal opinions with the principles of Shariah, demonstrating how his work bridged the gap between classical scholarship and contemporary Islamic thought.

Abstract:

The digital revolution has profoundly reshaped the ways religion is expressed, communicated, and practiced. Once confined to places of worship, religious scholars, and formal institutions, religious knowledge and discourse are now widely accessible through digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). This democratization enables both scholars and laypersons to share interpretations, teachings, and beliefs globally, making religion both a faith-based and communicative phenomenon. Social media facilitates religious dialogue, promotes interfaith understanding, engages youth in spiritual discussions, and fosters awareness of diverse beliefs, tolerance, and global cohesion. At the same time, it presents challenges, including misinformation, superficial knowledge, religious extremism, and algorithm-driven echo chambers that reinforce pre-existing views. Digital media have also transformed religious identity and leadership, with individuals expressing faith through posts, images, and hashtags, while online influencers complement or challenge traditional authority. These changes underscore the need for ethical engagement, scholarly accuracy, and responsible communication. When utilized conscientiously, social media serves as an effective platform for disseminating authentic religious knowledge, fostering constructive interfaith dialogue, and strengthening social cohesion by enabling respectful, cross-cultural, and transnational interactions, thereby supporting both individual spiritual development and collective understanding.

Abstract:

This research explores the theological discourses present in two major religious commentaries: Tafhim-ul-Quran by Syed Abul A‘la Maududi (Qur’anic exegesis) and Believer’s Bible Commentary by William MacDonald (Biblical exegesis in Urdu translation titled Tafsir al-Kitab). The study aims to conduct a comparative and analytical investigation into how each tradition addresses key theological themes such as the concept of God, prophethood, salvation, trinity, crucifixion, and eschatology. It highlights how Islamic exegesis, rooted in Tawheed (monotheism) and the finality of Prophethood, provides consistent theological interpretations based on Quran and Hadith, while Biblical interpretations—particularly in modern Protestant commentary—often demonstrate theological ambiguities and contradictions, especially concerning the divinity of Christ and the doctrine of atonement. By examining the theological methodologies, scriptural references, and philosophical underpinnings in both works, the research illustrates the strengths of Qur’anic theology in preserving doctrinal coherence and critiques the interpretive liberties taken in modern Biblical exegesis. This study contributes to interfaith understanding and highlights the need for intellectual honesty and historical-critical analysis in comparative theology.
